In Memory of Sal Badali
Remembering an authentic Rotarian.

As one of our founding members of the Rotary Club of East York, Sal has been an active member for over 60 years, with a passion for supporting communities in need.  We are deeply saddened by his passing:

BADALI, SALVATORE JOHN Deacon Salvatore (Sal) Badali passed away suddenly and peacefully on December 23, 2025 at the age of 93. He married his true love, Rose Amodeo (d2001), in 1953 and was a loving and devoted father to their children Joanne and husband John, John and wife Elizabeth, Rosalie and husband Michael, Bernadette and husband Craig and Melanie and husband Richard. He was the proud Papa of Jessica (Stephen), Colin (Sheba), David (Mity), Elora, Joel, Gwen (David), Jocelyn (David) and Liam and his great-grandchildren Alicia, Christopher, Asher, Sylas, Ori and Everett. The inspiration provided by his father and his passion for cars led him to a successful career as an automotive services provider. He gave his time to many in the community, particularly as a Rotarian, who honoured him as a Paul Harris Fellow. He became a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church in 1994, where he brought his ministry to many people including St. Bonaventure Church and to Providence Healthcare Centre, where he volunteered for many years. One of his favourite seasonal activities was serving as an ambassador for Santa Claus. He loved his entire family and was blessed with many friends. He loved people and was genuinely interested in them. He touched our hearts. He will truly be missed. Special thanks to Dr. Wyman for his caring support. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30th. The service will be held at St. Bonventure's Parish, 1300 Leslie Street, Toronto on Wednesday, December 31st at 10:30 a.m. 

We will deeply miss Sal, but his legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire us all.

In Sal’s honour, we are raising funds for the Providence Healthcare Centre—a cause that was very close to his heart.

Hot Meals ready for delivery to Bethany Baptist Food Bank
Add text Supporting the Bethany Baptist Food bank, we had to get creative during the pandemic, so we decided to cook meals, each member at their own homes, while we followed the same recipe on Zoom, delivering over 600 meals to community members in need. East York Strategies runs a food bank, after school programs and camps among other initiatives, we are happy to support their great work.

Winter Clothing Drive in support of New Circles
Clothing Drive in Support of New Circles Community Services, GLOW a free service that provides new or gently used, quality clothing to help equity-deserving individuals and families who are living on a limited income, meet their clothing needs. Their unique clothing program simulates a retail experience, offering a comfortable and welcoming environment. GLOW also serves as a training platform for their clients enrolled in our skills training programs, so that they can build employable skills and transition into the workplace.
